On occasion, VMs in Skytap may be reported by third party services as being in an unexpected geographic location, resulting in websites rendering in a different language than expected.
This is a result of IP geolocation services that are not managed or controlled by Skytap.
What is Geolocation?
When you connect to a service, for example Google with a browser, they match the IP address they see you coming from with their internal Geolocation database. In that database, they keep records of what country the IP address is in.
Resolving Geolocation Issues
Start by finding the IP address(es) the outside world sees your connection coming from. There are many websites that will do this. An example of such a service is http://checkip.amazonaws.com
Next work with your third party service to report any geolocation discrepancies.
