Disabling IPv6 on IBM i

IPv6 in IBM i is enabled by default. To disable it use the following steps:

• Login to IBM i with the QSECOFR profile
• From the guest OS command line issue CHGCMDDFT CMD(STRTCP) NEWDFT('STRIP6(*NO)') to set the STRTCP default command options for STIP6 to *NO
• You can validate if the IPv6 is disabled or not by issuing the command NETSTAT OPTION(*STATUS) on your guest OS command line

Note: IPv6 changes made will only take effect once the system is rebooted. The disabled IPv6 may be re-enabled if the underlying Operating System is upgraded.
