In limited circumstances for example when copying LPARs between specific regions or importing an LPAR into Skytap, the LPARs may transition between hosts that are single VIOS or dual VIOS.
EXAMPLE SKYTAP DUAL VIOS REGIONS
- AU-Sydney-M-1
- IN-Pune-M-1
- US-Virginia-M-2
IBM I based LPARs
- Moving from single to dual VIOS: No changes are required
- Moving from dual to single VIOS: No changes are required, but you may see harmless error messages, these errors can be can be cleared
- Configuring for dual VIOS failover: No changes are required
AIX based LPARs
- Moving from single to dual VIOS: When an AIX LPAR moves from single VIOS to dual VIOS it will function correctly, however configuring the disks properly can increase performance significantly
- Moving from dual VIOS to single VIOS: No changes are required, but you may see harmless error messages. These errors can be cleared
- Dual VIOS failover: AIX LPARs running on dual VIOS should set the failover algorithm properly to increase resiliency in unexpected situations
Ubuntu for Power based LPARs
- Ubuntu on power is not currently supported on dual VIOS in Skytap
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) based LPARs
- Moving from single to dual VIOS requires changes
- Moving from dual to single VIOS requires changes
- Configuring for dual VIOS failover
Falconstor on Power (CentOS based) LPARs
- Moving from single to dual VIOS settings
- Moving from dual to single VIOS settings
- Configuring for dual VIOS failover
